Tooth Whitening View Photos

Tooth whitening (or bleaching) is a simple, non-invasive dental treatment used to change the colour of natural tooth enamel.

We offer both professional 1 visit in office ZOOM Whitening, and custom take home whitening trays with gel.

Since tooth whitening only works on natural tooth enamel, it is important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc.  Replacement of any restorations will be done after bleaching so they will match the newly bleached teeth.

Tooth whitening is not permanent.  A touch-up may be needed every few years, and more often if you smoke, drink coffee, tea, or wine.

Reasons for tooth whitening:

  • Fluorosis (excessive fluoridation during tooth development).
  • Normal staining of outer tooth layer.
  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

What does ZOOM  in office whitening involve?

Zoom is a highly successful method of whitening performed in the office by our dental team.  It can remove even the toughtest stains left by coffee, tea, tobacco, leaving the patient with an exceptionally white smile.  What's more, Zoom does not harm the gums or teeth, and it only takes one hour.

A free consultation is your first step, to ensure you are a suitable candidate.  At your  ZOOM appointment, you will relax in the dental chair as the ZOOM light and hydrogen-peroxide gel work to break up and eliminate stains.
Some sensitivity may occur but will disapear over the following 48 hours.  The procedure is fast, safe, and simple.  You will also receive free custom trays with 3 syringes of gel to take home for future at home touchups.

What does "Take Home Whitening" involve?

This type of tooth whitening usually requires two visits.  At the first appointment, impressions will be made of your teeth to fabricate custom, clear plastic, trays.

At your second appointment, you will try on the trays for proper fit, and adjustments will be made if necessary.  The trays are worn with special whitening solution once a day for 45 minutes for 10-14 days depending on the degree of staining and desired level of whitening.  It is normal to experience tooth sensitivity during the time you are whitening your teeth, but it will subside shortly after you have stopped bleaching.

You will receive care instructions for your teeth and trays.  For your convenience we sell refill kits of whitening gel for when you want to touch up.
